I took this recipe, changed it a bit, and made it even better! If you want to try it out, you can do so with these ingredients: I’m sure that if you give it a try, it will end up going into your recipe collection, as well. Not many recipes get to make it to the album. I have printed out this recipe, took a photo of it, laminated it, and put it in my recipe album. So big sis…I will bow down gracefully to you and say that you make THE BEST Baked MAC N CHEESE EVER! The MVP is definitely that SMOKED CHEDDAR! Good God, I couldn’t stop eating this stuff. I just love how that top layer of smoked cheese forms like a crust. Usually, I’m not that into mac and cheese recipes that involve Velveeta, but this one….yeah, this one gets a pass!

THANKS A LOT, MATT…You’ll pay for that comment dearly! lol My husband took a bite and said, “um, you need to take your mac n cheese recipe off your blog and put this one up. I had one (ok three) plates of this macaroni and cheese and was on her heels like ash in the wintertime trying to get this recipe. What was this impostor all about! The proof was in the taste. I could have sworn I had all of my family members baked mac n cheese recipes. Well, imagine my shock when my sister sashayed in on Thanksgiving and casually placed this baked macaroni & cheese on the table. We share our favorite recipes like they are going on out of style! “Aint no sense in taking recipes to the grave” is how my grandmother sees it. People tend to keep a tight grasp on their prized macaroni & cheese recipes, but not in my family. Now I don’t want to waste your time with my yapping, I want to see you get in that kitchen, and try this recipe out.I’m pretty sure you all know how hard it is to find a good, southern, soul food style baked macaroni and cheese recipe, right? That is why I only make this dish a few times a year( holidays) I have to be honest here, and tell you that this dish is super high in fat and calories ( like all things that taste so freaking good). Also instead of using regular milk I use half & half, and evaporated milk. The so called macaroni and cheese that I had been waiting for was nothing more than boxed macaroni and cheese smothered in mild cheddar! Ooh that really burned my biscuits! Sadly, a lot of people make their ” famous” macaroni and cheese like this. Everyone raced to the front of the line to dig in. About 2 hours into the cookout the wife, finally came out with this huge platter full of mac and cheese. My mouth was watering, and frankly I just wanted him to shut up, and go grab me a plate. This man keep telling everyone that it was the real deal, and it was truly southern. Being that macaroni and cheese is one of my favorite foods, I was excited to get a taste of this “famous” mac and cheese. I remember going to a cookout, a year ago, and the host of the party keep bragging to all of the guest how bomb his wife’s mac and cheese was. SO many people have made macaroni and cheese, and claimed it to be southern, and all it was baked macaroni and cheese. They’re darn delicious, but not southern- and there is a difference! Yes, I have 3 or more other macaroni and cheese recipes already available, however none of them are truly southern. The time has come for me to finally share and upload a video on me making my SOUTHERN baked macaroni and cheese. What makes it different from any of my other macaroni and cheese recipes?
